About Hotel Bellas Artes

Hotel Bellas Artes is a boutique hotel at Av. 5 de Mayo 10, on the corner of Filomeno Mata, in the Historic Center of Mexico City. The Palacio de Bellas Artes is a minute away at one end of the street; the Zócalo is a five-minute walk in the other direction.

We are a small hotel by design: nine suite categories, one restaurant, a rooftop terrace and a team that knows the neighborhood well. Our aim is simple — a quiet, well-kept place to return to after a day in the busiest and most beautiful part of the city.

A historic office building, restored as a hotel

The hotel occupies a former prestigious office building on Avenida 5 de Mayo. Its conversion kept what gives the building its character — the wide corridors and the original doors in fine woods — and added the comfort and technology expected of a contemporary hotel.

In November 2025, Mexico City chronicler Ángeles González Gamio included Hotel Bellas Artes in her La Jornada column on the history of lodging in the Historic Center, among the old buildings that have been adapted to present-day needs while keeping their original essence.

On Avenida 5 de Mayo

Avenida 5 de Mayo runs from the Palacio de Bellas Artes to the Zócalo. Until 1900 the street ended at the Teatro Principal; that year the theater was demolished to open the way to the new Teatro Nacional — today's Palacio de Bellas Artes.

In the early twentieth century the avenue became one of the city's financial and cultural addresses. The Banco de México building, inaugurated in 1905 for The Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York, stands on the same street, and the Casa de los Azulejos and the Torre Latinoamericana are around the corner.

The Historic Center of Mexico City has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.

The suites

There are nine suite categories, all with King or Queen beds. Four are interior suites, quieter and away from the street, one with its own patio and bathtub. Five face the street, with balconies over 5 de Mayo or Filomeno Mata.

Every suite has complimentary Wi-Fi and a Nespresso coffee maker. Suites with two Queen beds sleep up to four guests; the others up to two.

Dining and shared spaces

Patio Bellas Artes, the hotel restaurant, serves Mexican and international cuisine: breakfast from 7:00 to 13:00 and lunch and dinner from 13:00 to 21:00. Its breakfast menu takes its ideas from the arts — painting, literature, dance and music. Room service is available from 7:00 to 21:00.

Guests also have a rooftop terrace with views over the Historic Center, a Technogym fitness center, a library and a multilingual concierge who can help with tickets, restaurants and transport.
